The House of Suntory, owner of Japanese whisky brands such as Hakushu and Yamazaki, is showcasing its Roku Gin through a new global campaign with actress Elle Fanning and filmmaker Sofia Coppola. The ‘Come Alive with the Seasons’ campaign “invites gin drinkers to experience the best of every season,” according to a brand press release.

Roku Gin

Roku Gin is crafted from six different Japanese botanicals through which it celebrates each of Japan’s distinct four seasons. These, combined with eight traditional gin botanicals, reflect the Japanese concept of shun, “the moment when nature is at its peak in vibrancy and vitality.”

The six Japanese botanicals include the Sakura flower, Sakura leaf, Sencha tea, Gyokuro tea, Sansho pepper, and Yuzu peel.

Come Alive with the Seasons Campaign

Sofia Coppola, the award-winning director behind the ‘Come Alive with the Seaons’ campaign, has previously worked with The House of Suntory in 2023 when the company celebrated its centenary.

Along with her long-time friend, Elle Fanning (The Great (2020-2023), Maleficient: Mistress of Evil (2019)), Coppola created a stunning film capturing the essence of the gin. Images of Japanese nature and the gin botanicals intertwine with Fanning enjoying Roku Gin with friends.

According to The House of Suntory: “The campaign vignette also aims to serve a greater purpose: to encourage discerning viewers worldwide to appreciate vibrant, fleeting seasons around them in a fast-paced, digital world – the shared value in Japanese culture behind seasonal festivals such as Hanami and the creation of Roku Gin.”

Speaking about the campaign, Fanning said: “It is amazing to be partnering with The House of Suntory’s Roku Gin. Their commitment to craftsmanship, nature, and attention to detail is why Roku Gin is inspiring. And working alongside my friend Sofia again to showcase the beautiful concept of shun through our Roku Gin ‘Come Alive with the Seasons’ campaign vignette has been particularly special to me.”
