Just in time for Father’s Day, Aberfeldy Distillery has unveiled the newest member of its Exceptional Cask Series.
The practice of finishing whisky in wine casks is something of a modern development. Additionally, red wine casks are most often chosen for finishing. However, in the Highlands of Scotland Aberfeldy has been working on something different: a 15 Year Old scotch whisky finished in white wine casks.
Malt Master Stephanie Macleod crafted the limited edition expression, exploring the influence of various different wines on the Aberfeldy whisky. According to the press release: “The sweet Cadillac wine casks show off the distinct flavor intricacies of white wine with more yellow fruits rather than the deep red fruity notes that red wine casks impart.
