A statement from John Distilleries states that Paul John Single Malts are non-chill filtered and have no added colors or flavors. The single malts are distilled in the warm tropical climate along the southwestern coast of India, and have an angel’s share of eight percent.

Paul John Whisky is created from six-row barley harvested from across the vast lands of northwestern India to the foothills of the Himalayas.

Their newest offering, Mithuna, comes in at 116 proof, is non chill-filtered, unpeated and matured in American virgin oak casks and finished in ex-bourbon casks. It is named after the Indian counterpart of the third Zodiac sign, Gemini. Distillers notes state that the whisky has a tint of old oak, offers a nose of licorice and beeswax with notes of ulmo honey and vanilla. On the palate are chewy flavors of coffee mocha, orange peel, and delicate spice on tannins. The distillers state the single malt offers a long finish with multi-toned sugars and honey.

Mithuna by Paul John sells for $300 retail, and is currently available in California (San Francisco-Bay Area), Florida, Boston and Texas and will be available in Michigan, Ohio, New York, Washington, Los Angeles and San Diego later this spring.

Launched in 2012, Paul John Whisky is currently available in 38 countries and has won more than 280 international awards to date.
