Wolfburn Debuts Its Own Coronation Expression

Back in 2019, then Prince Charles visited Wolfburn Distillery, displaying his penchant for fine single malts.

And now, to mark his coronation as king, Wolfburn is releasing a commemorative whisky based on the flavor profile enjoyed by His Royal Highness during a private tasting held in Wolfburn’s stillhouse.

A statement from the whisky maker noted that this expression is crafted from unpeated spirit matured for a little more than seven years in first-fill bourbon barrels. The whisky clocks in at 58% ABV, and a total of 600 bottles will be available.

Tasting notes for the coronation special, “The King,” show that on the nose, it has aromas of spring blossoms, gentle oak smoke and dried fruit, with a subtle sweetness. On the palate, it tastes of dates, almonds, maple syrup and dark chocolate, with a finish of vanilla that fades away with a warming trace of caramel at the end.
