Tasting Notes:

About:
A 27 year old Highland single malt Scotch matured in ex-bourbon American oak casks and finished in Oloroso Sherry butts released with natural colour and is unchillfiltered. A limited release of only 1,691 bottles in the lead up of their 200 year anniversary.
Appearance:
Deep burnished copper with a rose gold tint.
Nose:
A dense and hefty nose with the Oloroso really taking the forefront. Raisins, dates and figs with a fistful of hazelnuts to go with it. Very reminiscent of a booze-filled soggy Christmas cake.
Palate:
Lots of malt, plums and raisins with a strong slightly bitter undercurrent of dark chocolate fudge. A chewy, viscous texture which carries the flavours well which builds with warming spiced fruits similar to mulled wine.
Finish:
Warming and sweet with a mix of milky coffee, hazelnut chocolate spread and a slight pine freshness at the very back.
Comments:
A luxurious sherry led dram which brings the best out of the Oloroso finish while avoiding being too bitter or sulphuric. A whisky you could sit with for a whole evening.
