Whiskey Review: Glenfiddich 12 Year Old

Tasting Notes:

About:
Appearance:
Nose:
, is fruit forward, with hints of oak. Pear is dominating yet very subtle, and there’s smoke on the end. With regards to the
Palate:
, there’s a nice mouth feel offering hints of fruit, oak, smoke and a touch of spices. The finish, meanwhile, is medium, long and smooth, with smoke on the trailing end. Overall, this $38 bottle will not break the bank, but it is a standard, a benchmark- a bar room staple and probably one of the most approachable Scotches that you can find where ever you may travel. I rate the Glenfiddich 12 Year Old 78 out of 100. You can find a bottle at most liquor retail outlets. Glenfiddich, starting in 1887, has been making Scotch whisky since before the first automobile was made in France and about the time that Earthquake Science was first being implemented and tested.  Three ground breaking inventions that still move the world today.

The “Valley of the Deer” is one of the most recognized labels in the world when it comes to Scotch, and it is still family owned. This is in part due to the proliferation and longevity of the brand, but also because it is one of the most approachable Scotches in the world, having the awards to back it up.

The Glenfddich 12 Year Old, matured in American oak and oak sherry casks for a minimum of 12 years, is a Speyside style Scotch, and is presented in the distillery’s signature tri-sided bottle.  It appears as light honey in the glass.
