Tomatin Debuts 50-Year-Old Scotch Whisky

A rare cask has given up its rare liquid at Tomatin Single Malt, and the Scottish distiller recently debuted the Tomatin 50 Year Old.

After 50 years of maturation, all at the Tomatin Distillery, cask number 30040 was bottled in its most natural form, with only 125 bottles to be released celebrating the distillery’s 125th anniversary.

Tomatin Master Distiller Graham Eunson described in a statement this rare whisky as a “single malt bursting with aroma.”

His tasting notes find dried tropical fruits first on the nose before a mix of nuts, dark chocolate and honey. The whisky’s palate slowly opens with gentle hints of fresh orange and apricot, then becomes more intense with notes of dried fruit and spices before a wave of Oloroso Sherry driven flavors. There’s a rich sweetness lingering on the finish.

The 50-Year-Old comes securely encased within an individually numbered, hand blown Glencairn crystal decanter. The decanter is presented within an Italian crafted wooden box, furnished with premium Italian leather.

Sealed with a wooden transit cork, an engraved, solid brass and gold-plated glass stopper is also provided. A premium leather carry bag completes the presentation.
