Singleton of Glendullan Scotch Whisky Line Up Arrives In America

Singleton of GlendullanSpirits giant Diageo holds a number of Scotch whisky producers in its vast distillery portfolio that you’ve likely never heard of before – unless you are true devotee. One of these has to be Singleton of Glendullan, founded in 1897 as the last of seven distilleries in Dufftown and as one of three distilleries to share in the namesake Singleton. Its small portfolio of expressions is now being unleashed on American whisky drinkers.

The three new whiskies, according to Diageo, include the Singleton of Glendullan 12-Year-Old, Singleton of Glendullan 15-Year-Old, and Singleton of Glendullan 18-Year-Old, pricing around $35, $50, and $80, respectively. All are aged in ex-bourbon casks for their respective age periods, having been crafted from “pure water drawn from the high, wooded hills above the distillery.”

Diageo seems to be positioning these three expressions as more towards entry level drinkers, noting they make “an exceptional base spirit for use in craft cocktails and [as] an excellent option to pair with an array of culinary dishes and cuisines.” This apparently includes being paired with “a home cooked meal from your favorite food-subscription service.” Interesting…

“We’re excited to introduce The Singleton to further round out our Single Malts portfolio as this provides an excellent whisky at an attainable price range,” said Brian Cox, Director of Scotch Whisky, Diageo North America, in a prepared statement. “The Singleton is smooth, approachable and a fantastic Scotch whisky that will appeal to a wide range of people – from those just entering the category to those that are more familiar with whisky and know the acclaim of The Singleton name.”

Now, should you be unfamiliar with the Singleton name, it is said by Diageo that the whiskies associated with it have been crafted in the Speyside region since the 19th century. As they put it, “the Singletons as we know them today have been quietly making whisky in the Scottish Highlands for nearly 200 years.”

The Singleton of Glendullan 12-Year-Old, Singleton of Glendullan 15-Year-Old and Singleton of Glendullan 18-Year-Old should be rolling out now to select markets, including CA, FL, NY, CO, TX, PA, WA and NJ.
