Loch Lomond Debuts Nobel Rebel Blended Malt Scotch Brand

The Loch Lomond Group recently launched Noble Rebel, its new blended malt Scotch whisky brand.

A statement from Loch Lomond notes that Noble Rebel blended malt whiskies are available in three distinct expressions … Orchard Outburst, Smoke Symphony and Hazelnut Harmony.

And each bottle of Noble Rebel is brought to life through a series of label illustrations that detail the stories, layers and tasting notes of each expression.

The statement explains that Noble Rebel’s bottles are designed to replicate the heavy, intricate base of an old-fashioned rocks glass in tribute to the characterful flavors found within.

Finished with the words ‘Noble’ and ‘Rebel’ embossed on opposite sides of the bottle lip, this represents the two faces of the brand.

Orchard Outburst is matured in ex-bourbon casks, and the distiller’s notes show that it balances flavors of ripe orchard fruits with that of the salty ocean, and hints of lemon and lime. This expression’s malt contains whisky distilled with Chardonnay wine yeast, which helps intensify fruit and citrus flavors in the finished blend.

Smoke Symphony blends flavors and aromas of peat and smoke with hits of chili. Finished in Rioja wine casks, Smoke Symphony has notes of smoke, spice and dark berries.

Hazelnut Harmony mingles the flavors of nuts with a hint of sweet honeycomb, subtle pear undertones, and warm oak. It’s finished in toasted American oak casks, adding a sweet flavor of honey, vanilla and hazelnut to the whisky.

Each malt whisky is non-chill filtered, is natural in color, and clocks in at 46% ABV. They were distilled, matured and blended under the eye of Loch Lomond’s Master Blender Michael Henry.

At Loch Lomond Distillery, the distillers use a combination of traditional swan-neck, and its signature high and low-cut straight-neck pot stills.

Henry explained that the straight-neck stills provide him with more control over the distillation process, allowing him to manipulate the flavor profile of each whisky.

“Noble Rebel is an exciting new addition to the growing Loch Lomond Group portfolio,” Henry said. “At the heart of each expression is our shared passion for blending finely curated malts into a product of beauty. Bringing new ideas to old ways and deeply-rooted traditions, our drams are modern masterpieces that welcome newcomers with open arms, and delight old friends alike.”

Now available, each edition of Noble Rebel blended malt whisky has a suggested retail price of £40 per 70cl bottle.

The potential impacts of cask investment fraud on the scotch whisky industry was discussed in the Scottish Parliament in April 2024, hopefully paving the way for more regulation within the industry.
