Latest Royal Salute Flask Whisky A 28 Year Old Expression

The Royal Salute blended Scotch brand, owned by Chivas Brothers/Pernod Ricard, debuted around this time last year a new annual flask bottling designed to come across as a higher end offering. The 2018 version of this is back now in the form of a 28 year old expression created in collaboration with a well regarded perfumer.

The new Royal Salute 28 Year Old Kew Palace Edition, according to those behind it, ties the blending background of Royal Salute’s Director of Blending, Sandy Hyslop, with the scents driven knowledge of perfumer Barnabé Fillion. The two worked together in nosing a lot of whiskies to come up with the final blend, said to “capture their interpretation of the lush flora of the Kitchen Garden.” This garden is part of the Kew Palace, a historic British palace this whisky pays homage to that’s managed by a private charity Royal Salute is known to support.

As with the previous release, this bottling is presented in a special container. This time around it is a set once again, consisting of a bespoke green porcelain flagon and flask, alongside a pouring funnel and wooden serving tray. The 28 year old is bottled at 40% ABV.

“We are thrilled to unveil this exceptional 28 Year Old whisky, made even more special by the coming together of two industry experts,” said Royal Salute Marketing Director, Mathieu Deslandes, in a prepard statement. “Sandy Hyslop is the absolute pinnacle when it comes to blending so to be able to further enhance his latest creation with some magic from long-time friend of the brand and famed perfumer, Barnabe Fillion, is really special – and the result, the whisky, speaks for itself.”

Plans call for Royal Salute 28 Year Old Kew Palace Edition to price around $790. You’ll find official tasting notes below for your consideration.
