The Heavily Peated Octomore 09.x Series Surfaces From Scottish Bog

Do you like your Scotch whisky to be so heavily peated it feels like you are chewing on it? If so, then you’ve likely had at least one bottle from the Octomore series, a regular line up of super smoky releases from the Islay-based Bruichladdich distillery. The 0.9x releases are now here or soon to be here, so it is time once again to stretch your palate.

Bruichladdich is positioning the 0.9x releases as something called “Dialogos” in an attempt to stimulate conversations over a group of five year old whiskies which are both super heavily peated and at cask strength. The Octomores are typically a love them or hate them kind of experience, and over the next six months the following three bottlings will come to market, according to information from the distillery:

Octomore 09.1

Questioning the fundamentals of superior single malt Scotch, 09.1 is confident in its five year age statement. We demonstrate how focussing on raw ingredients can debunk the myth that older is better.
