Following on from the launch of the Glenglassaugh Serpentine Coastal Cask Collection in January, Glenglassaugh Distillery has announced the release of a Global Travel Retail (GTR) exclusive from the collection. The Glenglassaugh 49 Year Old Serpentine Coastal Cask Collection is available now at selected Brown-Forman travel retail locations for an RRP of £8,300 (~$11,943).

The single malt scotch whisky was distilled at Glenglassaugh Distillery on March 20th, 1974, and bottled on May 7th, 2024 from single cask #3799, a Pedro Ximénez hogshead. Only 190 bottles were yielded from the cask.

Glenglassaugh’s location, in the far north of Speyside on Sanded Bay, has afforded the whisky notable coastal influence. According to a press release from Brown-Forman (the owner of Glenglassaugh): “Utilizing mineral-rich spring water that flows through limestone and sandstone, each batch is imbued with a lush, ripe character, further enhanced by decades of maturation in coastal warehouses.”

Bottled at 44% ABV, the tasting notes for the Glenglassaugh 49 Year Old Serpentine Coastal Cask Collection are as follows:

Colour: Rouge gold
Aroma: Treacle, cinnamon, and cherry with plum wine and incense carried on a tropical wave of blossom honey
Taste: Waves of plum and cherry compote with silky key lime and lemon truffle coated in dark chocolate and sea salt”

“Glenglassaugh 49 Years Old is not just a whisky; it’s a journey through time. Each sip encapsulates the essence of Glenglassaugh’s unique coastal terroir and our unwavering dedication to quality. We are incredibly proud to offer this exclusive expression to our discerning customers at select locations in travel retail worldwide alongside our core Glenglassaugh portfolio,” said Ffion FitzGerald, Interim Marketing Director GTR Brown-Forman.

The brand’s core range includes the Glenglasaugh 12 Year Old, the Portsoy, and the award-winning Sandend
