GlenDronach Unleashes New Limited Release Cask Strength Batch 11

The GlenDronach Distillery recently introduced the 11th release of its Cask Strength Highland Single Malt Scotch.

A statement from the distiller notes that this expression features sherry wood maturation, continuing the legacy set out by the distillery’s founder, James Allardice, in 1826.

The GlenDronach Cask Strength Batch 11 is bottled at the whisky’s natural cask strength, 59.8% ABV, just as they did before the turn of the 20th century.

This batch of The GlenDronach Cask Strength finished its maturation in Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso sherry casks.

The GlenDronach’s master blender, Dr. Rachel Barrie, explained that the marriage of The GlenDronach Highland Single Malt brought out the deepest color, with the duality of the Andalucían casks bringing depth, character and complexity to the whisky.

“This eleventh batch of The GlenDronach Cask Strength embodies The GlenDronach‘s celebrated style of Spanish Oak maturation in fine Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso sherry casks from Andalucía,” Barrie said. “Add a drop or two of water to this latest expression to reveal a cornucopia of flavor – from richly spiced bramble wine and treacle toffee, to lingering Seville orange peel and nutmeg layered with caramel and maraschino cherry.”

You can find the whisky across the U.S. for a suggested retail price of $100.

The GlenDronach is one of the oldest licensed distilleries in Scotland, found in the valley of Forgue in the East Highland hills.
