Scotland’s Highland distillery GlenDronach recently introduced its latest single malt, the GlenDronach Cask Strength Batch 12.
A statement from the distiller notes that this Scotch bears a depth from Sherry cask maturation, and carries on the legacy of distillery founder James Allardice by marrying Highland spirit to Spanish oak.
This is the 12th batch of the GlenDronach Cask Strength, and the Highland single malt matured in Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso Sherry casks sourced from Andalucía, Spain.
Master Blender Rachel Barrie described each batch she composes for this series as having “the deepest color, the richest, most full-bodied complexity, and an enduring, elegant finish.”
She said The GlenDronach Cask Strength offers connoisseurs an insight into the distillery’s signature character, by bottling at the whisky’s natural cask strength, as was the custom before the turn of the 20th Century.
“Add a drop or two of water to open up the liquid and reveal a cornucopia of flavors; from rich mocha to raisin-filled fruit-cake and indulgent crème brûlée,” Barrie added. “Such is the reward of our 12th batch of The GlenDronach Cask Strength.”
The GlenDronach Cask Strength Batch 12 clocks in at 58.2% ABV, and will soon be available from select retailers for a suggested retail price of $104.99.
