Independent Scotch distiller, blender, and bottler, Douglas Laing & Co, recently unveiled a new limited release, Rock Island 14-Year-Old Sherry Edition.
A statement from Douglas Laing notes that this latest bottling follows in the footsteps of the original Rock Island Sherry Edition they released in the summer of 2020. That edition was noted for showcasing Rock Island’s maritime spirit balanced with a spicy, sherried warmth.
The statement from Douglas Laing notes that the new edition is meant to “elevate the already supreme Rock Island Sherry spirit to the next level.”
The bottle features a maritime look and feel with blue, gray and white colorways finished with blue foiling detailing.
The whisky itself is a blend of single cask, single malts from Orkney, Arran, Jura, and Islay, all aged 14 years, mostly in Sherry casks.
Emma Reid, Rock Island’s brand manager, said the complex flavors found throughout Scotland’s islands are incomparable and together they marry harmoniously to create a sweetly peated style.
“In Rock Island 14-year-old Sherry Edition, we have artfully combined two of the most popular styles of Scotch whisky,” she said. “Sherry matured and peated, to elevate the spirit by adding fruitiness and spice alongside the signature maritime smoke. By maturing the spirit for 14 years, we have allowed the whisky time to develop depth of flavor while maturing in rich Sherry casks.”
