Compass Box Debuts Special Anniversary Edition Of Hedonism Scotch

Hedonism-QuindecimusIndependent Scottish whisky bottler Compass Box Whisky is known for creating some rather unique bottlings from the Scotch it gets hold of from various distilleries. It now has a new limited edition expression set for release that is a special blend of single grain whiskies aged between 20 and 32 years.

This new blended grain Scotch, called Hedonism Quindecimus, was designed not only to kick off celebration of Compass Box’s 15th anniversary, but also as a tribute to the first bottling ever done by them. The original Hedonism, which debuted in 2000, reportedly “explored a brave new world of flavour previously uncharted in the world of Scotch,” according to the bottler.

As for Quindecimus, it is quite the mix of single grains. Compass Box noted of it that “parcels of 20 Year Old and 25 Year Old grain whisky distilled at Port Dundas were combined with 32 Year Old whisky from Dumbarton, 20 Year Old whisky from North British and a 32 Year Old parcel of ‘mystery’ pre-blended grain whisky sourced from Loch Lomond distillery, for which the exact provenance is unknown.”

It should be available by mid-April, having been bottled at 46% ABV. It will price around £125 in the UK, €160 in Europe and $175 in the US, and only 5,689 bottles will be available globally. Tasting notes are below from Compass Box.

The combination of grain whiskies from different distilleries and of varying ages has created extraordinary complexity and juxtapositions of flavour. Indulgent yet lively, unctuous yet light, you will find a deep, sweet caramel coconut succulence combining with exultant tropical fruits.
