Chivas Brothers Releases 48 New Whiskies For Its 2020 Distillery Reserve Collection

The classic Scotland whisky company Chivas Brothers recently released its 2020 malt collection, with 48 new single casks for whisky lovers to enjoy just in time for the holidays. What’s known as The Distillery Reserve collection contains a selection of four to 29-year-old whiskies from the company’s 13 Scottish single malt distilleries, including

  • Aberlour
  • Allt A’ Bhainne
  • Braeval
  • Caperdonich
  • Dalmunach
  • Glen Keith
  • The Glenlivet
  • Glentauchers
  • Longmorn
  • Miltonduff
  • Scapa
  • Strathisla
  • Tormore

The Glenlivet, one of the larger distilleries in the Chivas Brothers portfolio and said to be pioneer of the original Speyside style, brings ten single cask editions to the collection, beginning with an 8-year-old, 55.5% ABV whisky matured in a first fill barrel, and ranging up to a 25-year-old, 56% ABV spirit matured in a second fill butt.

One Chivas Brothers’ smaller distilleries, Aberlour, brings about a pair of 13-year-old single casks: one matured in a sherry butt at 60.9% ABV and one in an American oak cask at 53.2% ABV. The collection also includes three exclusive single malts from Dalmunach, a distillery “often hailed as one of the most technologically advanced in Scotland.”

“Our distilleries are the beating heart of Chivas Brothers and the Distillery Reserve Collection celebrates the heritage, innovation and style that make each one unique,” said Miriam Eceolaza, Marketing Director, Single Malts at Chivas Brothers, in a prepared statement. “This one-of-a-kind collection has been hand-selected to showcase the breadth of character and bold flavours single malt distilleries can achieve. I’m thrilled to be able to invite whisky lovers to join us in celebrating the stories of Speyside and delve even deeper into the vast world of single malt whiskies.”

The full collection is now available for purchase at The Glenlivet, Strathisla, Aberlour and Scapa distillery visitor centers. A smaller selection of the Glenlivet Distillery Reserve Collection, meanwhile, will also be available online for fans in the UK, France, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Belgium, Netherlands and Denmark.

Cask Fraud Addressed in Scottish Parliament

The potential impacts of cask investment fraud on the scotch whisky industry was discussed in the Scottish Parliament in April 2024, hopefully paving the way for more regulation within the industry.
