President Biden Honored With Special Irish Whiskey To Mark Recent Good Friday Anniversary

President Joe Biden and former President Bill Clinton were recently honored with a special edition of Irish whiskey during their visit to Belfast for the 25th anniversary of the Good Friday Agreement.

A statement from Kirker Irish Whiskey noted that the gifts symbolized the political progress enabled by the agreement.

Kirker Irish Whiskey recently brought the art of blending to the heart of Belfast, and the brand celebrates Irish whiskey with blends of the spirit from the four provinces of Ireland.

The limited edition expression bestowed upon the American presidents was blended in honor of the historic anniversary of the Good Friday Agreement, Kirker officials explained. In all, six bottles were gifted to those leaders in attendance in Belfast, Northern Ireland last month. Several of those in attendance were pivotal in the Good Friday Agreement negotiations.

The whiskey, dubbed “The Spirit of Agreement,” is a blended malt Irish whiskey aged 25 years. The whiskeys within were curated and blended featuring diverse finishes, having been aged in bourbon, Port, Oloroso and Marsala casks.

The Spirit of Agreement whiskey came presented in a bespoke wooden box.

Kirker Irish whiskey curator, Richard Ryan, said it was a monumental occasion in Northern Ireland, and that it made sense as a Belfast-based blending company to celebrate this 25th anniversary with their own unique release of a 25-year-old blended malt Irish whiskey.

“We’re proud that our whiskey emulates the principles of the Good Friday Agreement, each expression has its own history but together they harmonize to create something even more wonderful,” he said.

The Spirit of Agreement whiskey boxes were presented by the Kirker team at Belfast’s Hasting Hotels during their stay. Recipients include President Biden, former president Clinton, Special Envoy to Northern Ireland Joe Kennedy, former Secretary of State Hilary Clinton, former Senator George Mitchell, as well as former UK prime minister Tony Blair.

The peace deal was signed on April 10th, 1998, and was designed to bring an end to three decades of conflict in Northern Ireland.
