First Teeling Irish Whiskey Exclusive To Travel Retail Finished In Cognac Casks

The strong market position of Teeling Irish Whiskey as one of the major success stories of the revival of Irish Whiskey has been quite a ride to witness over the last several years. Part of this distillery’s journey has been in partnership with spirits giant Bacardi, which back in mid-2017 acquired a minority share that helped Teeling open up new distribution channels both domestic and international, including global travel retail. It is through the latter that a new whiskey that’s been finished in ex-Cognac casks will be exclusively available.

The new Teeling Whiskey Explorers Edition, according to those behind it, was put together by Teeling master distiller Alex Chasko. Chasko hand-selected a blend of 12 year old casks of malt and grain whiskeys that he put into ex-Cognac casks for further maturation for an undisclosed amount of time. The end product was then bottled at 46% ABV with no chill filtration.

“The Teeling Whiskey Explorers Edition is expertly positioned for our travelling consumer with an evocative story, inspired by intrepid Irish explorers who have travelled the world in search of adventure and discovery,” said Julie Witherden, Marketing Director, Bacardi Global Travel Retail, in a prepared statement. “It’s the perfect souvenir or gift from your travels.”
