Bushmills Irish Whiskey recently announced the 2022 releases from its series of rare single malts called The Causeway Collection.
The 2022 Collection, the third in the series, is a selection of cask-finished and fully matured Irish single malt whiskeys from The Old Bushmills Distillery and Master Blender Alex Thomas.
A statement from the distiller notes that this third release includes a 33-year-old Port, the oldest expression ever released from The Old Bushmills Distillery, as well as 25 and 30 year old Madeiras, an 11-year-old Cognac and an 11-year-old Banyuls.
The collection also includes interesting new cask finishes including a 2012 Pomerol, a 1997 Rum, a 12-year-old Tequila, a 2012 Burgundy, and a 2002 Vermouth.
Near the distillery, nature’s Giant’s Causeway is said to have been a source of inspiration for decades and decades of Bushmills’ master blenders. Known for its columns of basalt rock, The Causeway Collection drew inspiration from, and is born of the sea air and mineral-rich water.
Alex Thomas, Bushmills’ master blender, said, “It’s truly a privilege to work with such rare whiskeys in The Causeway Collection. They are the fruits of over 400 years of Bushmills whiskey-making tradition, each expertly created and nurtured over decades. The Causeway Collection is a celebration of our passion for single malts, and these special whiskeys are our greatest treasures.”
Bushmills’ 2022 Causeway Collection features 10 new expressions that will launch worldwide in the next few months across seven global markets including Ireland, the UK, France, Germany, Australia, Poland and Travel Retail.
