Crown Royal Expands Single Barrel Whisky Program Across USA

It wasn’t all that long ago we brought you word of plans by popular Canadian whisky label Crown Royal to introduce single barrel offerings of its Coffey Rye whisky into the USA via the state of Texas. It apparently has been enough of a hit there the program is now being expanded nationwide.

Crown Royal said its Hand Selected Barrel whisky program will now be entering select markets across the USA, though which specific markets were not immediately mentioned. How it works is that retailers in these areas who partake will be able to purchase an entire barrel for bottling that their customers can then acquire. Every bottle created through this program will also feature a personalized medallion denoting the retail location and come enclosed inside a felt bag that’s housed inside a box.

The Hand Selected Barrel whisky from Crown Royal was produced from the brand’s “Coffey Rye Still, the only known still of its kind in North America, located in Gimli, Manitoba.” It is bottled at 103 proof and should price for around $55 for a 750 ml bottle. It is said to have flavorful creamy and fruity notes of banana, combined with rich oak undertones.

The expansion of this single barrel program comes on the heels of Crown Royal’s recent US debut of a high rye whisky known as Northern Harvest Rye.
