Stalk & Barrel Rye WhiskyWe’ve written of late about a few Canadian whiskies, ryes to be specific, released from distilleries up north which target a growing American interest in all things rye. These releases have been from big guys such as Crown Royal and Alberta Distillers, and now joining them is craft whisky operation Still Waters and its new Stalk & Barrel Canadian Rye Whisky.

Stalk & Barrel Rye, according to Still Waters, is made

in small batches by hand in a small copper pot still from 100% local Canadian rye grain. It is matured in ex-bourbon barrels for a minimum of three years and released exclusively as rare single cask offerings at either cask strength or 46% ABV. The whisky is never chill-filtered nor is artificial colouring added.

Still Waters, based out of the Canadian province of Ontario, has been bringing home some awards for its rye, including it recently being recognized at the Canadian Whisky Awards as the “Best New Whisky” as well as getting a gold medal. It follows blended and single malt releases already brought down into the US from this distillery.
