Winners Announced For 2022 U.S. Open Whiskey And Spirits Championships

Medals were recently handed out at the 2022 U.S. Open Whiskey and Spirits Championships, and Grand National Champions were named.

Moylan’s Distilling from Petaluma, California, repeated as U.S. Open Whiskey’s Grand National Champion after bringing home four gold medals, a silver, and a bronze.

It was the distillers behind Moylan’s Bourbon with Sherry Finish that was named the favorite among judges in the whiskey category. Prior to this, no other distillery or brewery had a repeat championship in the U.S. Open Whiskey and Spirits.

Silver Fox Distillery from Ontario, Canada, was named the 2022 U.S. Open Spirits’ Grand National Champion, bringing in six total medals in the spirits categories, including three golds.

Judging of whiskey and spirits in the U.S. Open Championships is blind, as the judges only know the categories, not what they’re tasting. Canadian entries were judged by distillers and instructors from Niagara College in Welland, Ontario. The American entries were judged by distillers and whiskey and spirits experts in Oxford, Ohio at the U.S. Open Event Center.
