Seattle Distillery's Barrel Raider Bourbon Aptly Named

1960134_621654537881650_524125727_nA young distillery in Seattle, Washington has turned to sourced bourbon to help it offer its own spin on whiskey. Batch 206 Distillery is the operation’s name and it recently released its first batch of the aptly named Barrel Raider Bourbon.

Batch 206’s first pass at Barrel Raider Bourbon comes from a barreling of a seven year bourbon from unnamed sources that was then blended “in house.” It consists of a mash bill that’s 70% corn, 22% winter rye and 8% sprouted barley. Owing to what’s described as a high rye content, tasting notes for this spirit from the distillery indicate an offering that “is spicy and peppery with a pipe tobacco aroma and it possesses a nearly endless finish.”

As for pricing and availability, expect to find bottles from the initial run in the mid $30 price range in Oregon and Washington. If you happen to be in Seattle you can also visit the distillery and pick up, if it is sill available, a limited edition collector’s 120 bottle run that’s wax dipped, signed and numbered.
