Penelope Bourbon’s second year of operation has been a big one. The Kentucky whiskey brand recently had their Barrel Strength bourbon named one of the best spirits of 2020 by Wine Enthusiast, and they earned a Double Gold Medal in the Straight Bourbon Whiskey category at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition. And they are finishing up 2020 on another high note with the recent announcement of Batch 05, a new release of that same award-winning barrel-strength bourbon.
This limited-run offering is a straight bourbon that blends three bourbon mash bills made up of corn, wheat, rye, and malted barley. The whiskey is aged between three and four years in new American oak barrels and bottled directly from those barrels without the addition of chill-filtering.
“Barrel Strength is always one of our most popular releases because it provides our signature four grain blend straight from the barrel– uncut and unfiltered,” said Mike Paladini, Penelope Bourbon CEO and founder, in a prepared statement. “With this new batch, consumers can expect to experience our boldest flavor profile yet- with notes of smoke, orange peel, fruit, caramel, and oak.”
The 12,000 bottle release of Penelope’s Barrel Strength Batch 05 is available now through many online retailers and select brick and mortar shops with an MSRP of $60. It is bottled at 116 proof and and features refreshed branding and packaging, including a new logo.
