Ohio’s Watershed Debuts Its Latest Cask Strength Bourbon

Watershed Distillery, noted as being Ohio’s largest independent distillery, is set to launch batch 3 of its Barrel Strength 6 Year Bourbon. To meet what it anticipates is high demand, the option to purchase a bottle is being made available via online lottery.

Barrel Strength 6 Year Bourbon 003, according to the distillery, is the latest offering in its family of aged spirits. Last year, the distillery moved to a fully-age stated bourbon portfolio with the launch of Watershed Bottled-in-Bond Bourbon and the relaunch of its flagship Watershed Distillery Bourbon.

“This is our most mature bourbon making it our oldest, most complex bourbon yet,” said Greg Lehman, CEO of Watershed Distillery, in a prepared statement. “It is a cask finished bourbon—first aged in bourbon barrels and then finished to perfection in barrels that once held our apple brandy.

“This extra step takes more time but creates a rich and delicious spirit unlike anything else.”

Bottled at 126.1 proof, official topline tasting notes are as follows: aromas of stovetop caramel, toasted oak and rich vanilla bean. Flavors of fig preserves, a touch of black cherry and toasted nuttiness with an unparalleled richness. A robust and balanced finish that lingers with complexity and contentment. Suggested retail price is $89.99.
