New J.R. Revelry Bourbon Makes Little Secret About Being A Quality Sourced Whiskey

JR Revelry - New Handcrafted Bourbon WhiskeyA new bourbon that’s surfaced for sale in New York (not related to the one I previously wrote about tied to Michter’s) is fascinating to me in that the owner of it looks to be pretty forthcoming in the fact it is a sourced product from another distillery (at least on his website). That is pretty refreshing to see his admittance of such a choice, especially in light of the ongoing debate of sourced versus distilled on site whiskies, and one of the primary reasons I am thus bringing it to your attention for possible purchase and consumption.

J.R. Revelry is described as a 90 proof bourbon that was sourced from the old Seagram distillery in Lawrenceburg, IN. What’s been bottled is based upon the aging and blending flavor profile of one Jesus Ricardo, or“Rick,” Tapia, an entrepreneur born to Peruvian immigrant parents who recently launched his own spirits venture, La Bodega Internacional, after years working for others in the spirits industry. The name J.R. Revelry, according to those behind it, “comes from Rick’s initials, J.R., and the Revelry comes from the atmosphere of celebration that this whiskey should engender.”

Pricing around $35 for a 750 ml bottle, this non age statement whiskey was produced in conjunction with Speakeasy Spirits, an artisan distillery operation out of Nashville, Tennessee offering private labeling and bottling services. One interesting element highlighted in the press materials tied to this bourbon is that fact that “all of the packaging elements – the glass bottle, screen printed label, wood stained top, embossed strip label and tamper evident seal” are made in the USA.
