The mission for the Nelson Brothers? To revive their family’s distilling legacy.
Back in 2006, Andy and Charlie Nelson picked up where Charles and Louisa Nelson’s story left off, and they set out to reintroduce the world to Nelson’s Green Brier Distillery.
Through what’s described as challenges and triumphs, the siblings are turning another chapter and introducing the Nelson Brothers line, a nod to their family’s distilling past and a course for their future.
The brothers just launched a new whiskey expression, Nelson Brothers Reserve Bourbon, and soon they will debut the Nelson Brothers Classic Bourbon, which they say will “feature a perfected blend that honors the exacting standards of their founder.”
The Nelson Brothers launched Nelson’s Green Brier Distillery to offer modern whiskey enthusiasts a line of products that meets what they feel are the standards of quality and integrity established by their great-great-great grandfather Charles Nelson, who founded the family distillery in 1860.
Nelson Brothers Whiskey distiller’s notes:
Nelson Brothers Classic Bourbon
- Nose: Spice cake, cherry, milk chocolate, vanilla, baked apple.
- Palate: Banana bread, cocoa, cherry, dried pineapple.
- Finish: Black peppercorn, spearmint, lemon peel, sweet tobacco.
- ABV: 93.3 proof (46.65% ABV).
- Mash Bill: Corn, rye, malted barley
Nelson Brothers Reserve Bourbon
- Nose: Cherry, maple syrup, sweet mint, cinnamon roll.
- Palate: Caramel, allspice, cherry, hazelnut.
- Finish: Earthy, cocoa, allspice, cherry cobbler.
- ABV: 107.8 proof (53.9% ABV).
- Mash Bill: Corn, rye, malted barley.
