Milam & Greene Goes Nationwide With Its Texas Whiskeys

Texas-based Milam & Greene Whiskey, a brand whose whiskeys we reviewed earlier this year, is expanding its distribution outside of its state and across the country. Customers will soon find their products from California to Connecticut.

Milam & Greene’s Triple Cask Straight Bourbon, Port-Finished Rye, and Straight Single Barrel Bourbon will be coming to stores in California, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, New York, Washington D.C. and Wisconsin. The whiskeys will also roll out nationally online during the holidays.

“Clearly this has been an incredibly challenging year for craft distilleries,” said Heather Greene, CEO and master blender of Milam & Greene Whiskey, in a prepared statement. “We completely threw our business plan out the window in mid-March and had to pivot our business strategies after the closure of our taproom and bars and restaurants in Texas.

“We first produced free hand sanitizer, and then quickly restructured our staff, and marketing and sales plans to set up new channels to get our whiskey to consumers in places where it is in demand outside of Texas.”

Milam & Greene has the capacity to distill whiskey in a 100-gallon copper pot in Blanco, Texas, continuous stills in Kentucky and does maturation in both states. In Texas’s unique climate, the whiskey is blended, batched, sourced, finished and hand bottled. Its whiskeys include

Milam & Greene Triple Cask Straight Bourbon Whiskey: a batch of three straight bourbon whiskies: 2-year-old premium Texas bourbon, 3 to 4-year-old Tennessee whiskey and 10 to 11-year-old Tennessee whiskey. Official tasting notes speak of refined aromas with notes of vanilla, floral and spice. Palate notes are creamy and soft with a medium warm finish with structure and tannins.

Milam & Greene Single Barrel Straight Bourbon is a unique product where no two casks are exactly the same. It is said the distillery’s team looks for stand-out whiskies from across the U.S. to create this bourbon.

Milam & Greene Port Finished Straight Rye Whiskey comes from casks sourced from Indiana where they are batched in Blanco and finished in old Portugal Port wine casks. Official tasting notes from it hint of aromas of cinnamon, chocolate and dark fruits. Palate notes are robust flavors with a long warm finish.
