MGP Announces 2021 George Remus Bourbon Single Barrel Program

On the heels of their announcement of the 2021 Rossville Union Single Barrel Program, MGP, the largest distiller of rye whiskey in the U.S., has revealed that they will be offering a 2021 George Remus Bourbon Single Barrel Program. This follows up to a similar undertaking under this label last year.

George Remus, a Lawrenceburg, Indiana brand named after the so-called “King of the Bootleggers,” will be offering two mash bills at cask strength to retailers. Prospective buyers will be able to connect online with MGP’s distillery team to discuss their chosen mash bill and participate in virtual tastings. They also have the option of customizing the label for their chosen single barrel release.

“The Remus Family of Bourbon Whiskies exemplifies MGP’s expertise in distilling, aging and blending. Our Single Barrel program offers an exciting complement to our Bourbon portfolio and allows us to showcase our historic high-rye mash bills,” said Andrew Mansinne, MGP’s Vice President of Brands, in a prepared statement. “We’re thrilled to expand this year’s program with a renewed commitment to support our partners with marketing support tailored to reach the most discriminating Bourbon consumers.”

George Remus Bourbon Single Barrels are available for pre-sale through March 15 and will be shipped to retailers by September, to coincide with National Bourbon Month. These two mash bills are offered in addition to George Remus’ regular release, George Remus Straight Bourbon Whiskey and their limited Remus Repeal Reserve Series. The former is a high-rye blend of Bourbon whiskies, aged over four years, while the Series tends to be crafted from “reserve” bourbons.

Cask Fraud Addressed in Scottish Parliament

The potential impacts of cask investment fraud on the scotch whisky industry was discussed in the Scottish Parliament in April 2024, hopefully paving the way for more regulation within the industry.
