Luxco Coming Along Nicely On Its First Real Distillery In Kentucky

Non-distilling producer Luxco, best known to whiskey drinkers for its brands such as Rebel Yell and Blood Oath, has been busy the last few months on construction of a new distillery in Bardstown, Kentucky. They’ve now provided a bit of an update on how things are going there, including unveiling what the new facility will be named.

What is to be called Lux Row Distillers is being built on a 70-acre site in Bardstown, considered by many to be the heart of bourbon country. When completed, said Luxco, the distillery building will be approximately 18,000 square feet and the overall site will include six barrel warehouses, a tasting room, and event space.

“We have worked diligently to find the perfect and most inspiring name for the new distillery and we are excited to have landed on the name Lux Row Distillers,” said Donn Lux, Luxco Chairman and CEO, in a prepared statement. “We wanted the distillery, which represents a new chapter in our family and company evolution, to incorporate aspects of the Lux family name, the scenic property we are located on and the bourbon heritage of the area.”

When the distillery is complete and operational by the last quarter of 2017, it is believed it will be “positioned to provide the finest bourbon to meet Luxco’s ever increasing whiskey demand.” It joins Bardstown Bourbon Company, which itself recently said it was near maximum production capacity, in bringing new whiskey creation to this region of Kentucky. The new facility also reportedly will offer visitors a new stop on the Kentucky Bourbon Trail.
