Jefferson’s Bourbon Unveils New 16 Year Old Presidential Select

In the realm of all things Jefferson’s Bourbon, the unicorn amongst its various bottlings has to be the Presidential Select line up. Consisting of sourced bourbons and rye whiskeys ranging from 17 to 30 years in age, it is a rare day indeed when this popular American whiskey label offers up a new expression under this label. Enter now however the new Presidential Select 16 Year Old.

The new Jefferson’s Presidential Select 16 Year Old Bourbon, according to those behind it, underwent what’s said to be a unique aging process. It was first fully matured for 11 years in new American Oak casks. From there, the bourbon was aged for an additional five years in fresh casks. The resulting product reportedly “retains the bright notes found in a classic bourbon but adds a depth of flavor and complexity that can be gained only through long years of extra aging in new barrels.”

Plans call for this older bourbon to price around $200 when it releases this month. Bottled at 47% ABV, it is a one time limited run of just 10,000 bottles and will likely sell out quickly, with some retailers offering it at higher then normal prices.

Limited official tasting notes for the Jefferson’s Presidential Select 16 Year Old indicate this whiskey has “an orange spice and vanilla aroma, with hints of  tobacco, leather and spice, and warm molasses on the finish.”
