Blue Run Offers Up 2nd Batch Of Popular Kentucky Straight High Rye Bourbon

Last fall Blue Run Spirits, a popular boutique American whiskey label guided by legendary former Four Roses master distiller Jim Rutledge, released its Kentucky Straight High Rye Bourbon Whiskey. It was the first Blue Run Spirits whiskey with Rutledge overseeing the production (on all previous Blue Run products, except Golden Rye, Jim served as the Liquid Advisor). Now a new batch of it is coming out after the first was said to have sold out within minutes.

Blue Run High Rye Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey – Batch 2, according to those behind it, releases to select retailers across the country and Canada this week, as well as online at bluerunspirits.com powered by Seelbach’s starting today. Blue Run High Rye, which was contract distilled by Jim Rutledge at Castle & Key, is described by the brand as a caramel beauty full of baking spices and a toasted oak frame that crescendos with a stone fruit and black pepper finish. Blue Run Whiskey Director Shaylyn Gammon oversaw the dumping and blending of 232 barrels.

Batch 1 was recently included in Fred Minnick’s Top 100 list and named one of the top 25 bourbons of the 21st Century by Robb Report. Batch 2’s proof is 111 and price is $99.99.

The bourbon is distilled from a 65% Yellow Corn, 30% Rye, 5% Malted Barley mash bill.

Blue Run Spirits, for those unfamiliar with it, flies a bit higher than your typical whiskey start up, being helmed by a group of founders that “include a Nike designer, the first director-level employee at Facebook, a hospitality executive, a political advisor, and a philanthropist – all huge whiskey fans and individuals who acutely understand how to build demand and buzz for a contemporary consumer product. They are backed by a team of advisors including Nike marketing experts; the Campari communications veteran behind Wild Turkey and the Aperol Spritz; a former spirits distributor; and others with deep industry experience. “
