Arkansas’ Rock Town Distillery Readies Anniversary Bourbon

Rock Town Fifth Anniversary Arkansas Bourbon Arkansas isn’t exactly a craft whiskey mecca compared to a range of other states across the country, be it Colorado or Washington, among others. It is in the “Natural State,” however, that Rock Town Distillery exists, creating bourbons and ryes that have received great acclaim, including a nod from well regarded whisky writer Jim Murray in the latest edition of his Whisky Bible. The distillery is now celebrating its fifth anniversary, with plans to release a special limited edition bourbon to mark the occasion.

Rock Town said its Fifth Anniversary Arkansas Bourbon Whiskey will go on sale at the distillery only on June 20 in downtown Little Rock. The release, a one time limited bottling, was aged for four years in 53 gallon barrels and is “bottled-in bond” at 100 proof.

The bourbon, consisting of a mash bill drawn from 73% Arkansas corn, 9% Arkansas wheat and 18% malted barley, was twice distilled on a Vendome copper still before being put into the new oak barrels for aging. It was bottled in 375 ml bottles, each with a wax dipped cork finish, and will price around $50. Tasting notes for whiskey are below via Rock Town.

Hints of dark chocolate on the nose, smooth milk caramels on the pallet and a medium dry vanilla cookie finish.
