Angel’s Envy, the popular bourbon label owned by Louisville Distilling, is bringing to market this month the 2015 version of its higher-end Cask Strength release. This bottling, which is a bit of an annual thing for them, will once again be very limited in scope, numbering just 7,500 bottles this time around.
Angel’s Envy 2015 Cask Strength bourbon is aged upwards of seven years in select American white oak barrels before being blended into a single batch and finished in ex-port casks. It has been bottled at a whopping 127.9 proof, making it stronger then the 2013 or 2014 expressions.
Louisville Distilling, which was snapped up by spirits giant Bacardi earlier in the year, said of the 2015 release that it will be made available in AZ, CA, CO, FL, GA, IL, IN, KY, MA, NJ, NY, OH, OR, TN, TX and WA at a price point of around $170. This cost holds steady from last year which, while still expensive, is a good thing to see when you consider the general rising cost of bourbon on the premium shelf.
“Cask Strength is a rare and remarkably complex bourbon unlike any other you’ve ever tried,” said Wes Henderson, Chief Innovation Officer of Angel’s Envy, in a statement. “Our fans look forward to it each year and we’re thrilled to make it more widely available.”

Color: Rich Gold with an amber depth
Nose: Heavy caramel with vanilla up front, followed by roasted almonds, orange peel citrus, and faint blueberry
Palate: Pound cake, root beer, candy corn, honey. Then tart strawberries, blackberries, figs, and slight black pepper on the finish.
