High Wire Distilling, as we touched upon earlier this year in an interview with them, is a distillery out of South Carolina focused on making whiskey from heritage grains. One of their most liked expressions is their Jimmy Red Straight Bourbon Whiskey, made from a type of corn that almost went extinct before seeing a culinary revival in recent times. A popular variant on this release from the distillery is putting the whiskey in Le Creuset stoneware, and now the latest of this is set to come to market.
The distillery announced they will have two special single barrel releases of Jimmy Red in the stoneware bottles coming available this weekend at their facility in Charleston, SC. Details on them are as follows:
We’re incredibly happy to announce the 2019 release of our Jimmy Red Straight Bourbon Whiskey in Le Creuset stoneware at the distillery at 10:30am this Saturday, December 7th.
This year’s release is especially eventful as it marks the very last time we will package Jimmy Red in our beloved Le Creuset stoneware bottles. We chose two very special single barrel selections for this release:
Barrel 343 (Black Wax): This single barrel, single estate version of Jimmy Red Bourbon was made with corn from the Cherokee Tract just south of Charleston. The Cherokee Tract is home of Clemson University’s Coastal Research and Education Center. This batch boasts a prominent baking spice nose and flavor with unique notes of chocolate malt and tart cherry.

Barrel 365 (Gold Wax): This batch is also a single barrel expression made with Jimmy Red corn sourced from the Pee Dee River Basin. Tasting notes include honey, soft graham flour, nutmeg, vanilla, and maple syrup.

If you can’t make it here in person for the Le Creuset release, we will make them available online at 1pm on Saturday for pick-up only by clicking this link. Please note all purchases made directly with High Wire are subject to a 3 bottle limit per person per day due to SC state law. Any online purchase totaling more than 3 bottles will be voided. Online purchases will be held for pick-up until January 31st, 2020 unless special arrangements are made. Items not picked up by that date will be re-stocked for sale in our Tasting Room. High Wire is not able to ship any spirits sold at retail. You must be 21 or over to place an order.
For those of you outside our distribution network, Jimmy Red Straight Bourbon will be available for shipment through our online retail partner, Astor Wines in NY, who will receive product late next week. We will send an additional email once they are fully stocked. Please note that Astor Wines cannot legally ship to the following states: AL, AK, AR, HI, IL, IA, KY, MD, MI, MS, MT, NH, ND, SD, TN, TX, UT, VA, and WI.
