WhistlePig, Sunkist Partner On Citrusy Cocktail Collaboration

WhistlePig and Sunkist Growers recently partnered on a line of orange-flavored Maple Old Fashioneds, all while supporting the bartending community.

Two versions, one non-alcoholic and one wet, are being offered.

A statement from the distiller notes that WhistlePig’s ready-to-drink Dry Orange Fashioned offers the balanced flavor of a classic old fashioned cocktail, without the proof, and with 10% of the daily value of Vitamin C per serving.

The collaboration brings together 100% Rye non-whiskey, Vermont barrel-aged maple syrup, and Sunkist navel oranges. The intent was to launch the Dry Orange Fashioned in time for Dry January.

WhistlePig notes that this release features its accomplice, a Wet Orange Fashioned made with WhistlePig PiggyBack 100% Rye Whiskey.

Both the Wet and Dry Orange Fashioned showcase the flavor of 100% Rye spice, softened by the woodsy complexity of WhistlePig’s local, Vermont barrel-aged maple syrup. It’s then infused with the aroma of Sunkist’s grove-to-glass citrus.

The wet version is bottled at 35% ABV, and the dry version has less than .5% ABV.

“As you temporarily toast goodbye to your faithful Old Fashioned in January, you can count on our Dry Orange Fashioned for your cocktail fix with the Wet Orange Fashioned waiting for you on the other side,” said Meghan Ireland, WhistlePig’s head blender. “After the success of last year’s PiggyBack 100% Rye Non-Whiskey limited edition, we are committed to bringing fans another innovative sipping experience and standing by our bartending family.”

While available, 100% of proceeds from the sale of Dry and Wet Orange Fashioneds will go to bartenders nationwide who see less bar traffic and fewer tips during the month of January.

The limited-edition bottles are available for purchase online at shop.whistlepigwhiskey.com for $49.99 per 750ml bottle, with proceeds going to bartenders through Turning Tables, a New Orleans based non-profit that cultivates leadership, creates real opportunity, and helps change the face of hospitality by establishing a model and standard for equitable access.
