Whiskey Label Watch: New 28 And 4 Year Old Orphan Barrel

With the fall whiskey release cycle beginning to kick up nationwide, it seems like it is time for another episode of The Whiskey Wash Label Watch, in which we identify interesting new bottling labels approved by the TTB. As usual, though these labels have been signed off on it still doesn’t mean an actual bottling may appear.

In this go around two new bottlings for Diageo’s Orphan Barrel project look to be on the horizon. If you happen to be unfamiliar with this extreme whiskey aged experiment, check out our archive of stories around this undertaking to help bring yourself up to speed.

As for the new releases, what’s on deck looks to be (1) a rather crazy four year American whiskey with a pedigree that’s actually older than that and (2) a 28 year old American (Tennessee from what it looks like) whiskey which, if it hits retail, would surpass the Old Blowhard as the oldest expression to date in the Orphan Barrel line.

Hit each of the images below to learn more details about the two new Orphan Barrel bottlings based upon the information provided in the TTB filings.
