Sagamore Offers Up Canned Craft Rye Whiskey Cocktails

, | August 23, 2021

While the ready-to-drink sector of the spirits market has grown exponentially the past few years, just a few of the products have been whiskey based.

Now, Sagamore Spirit is raising the ready-to-drink stakes by launching its first line of craft cocktails featuring its four-year-old straight rye whiskey.

The Maryland-based distiller said the new craft cocktails come in three flavors, Black-Eyed Rye, Honey Paloma, and Lemon Tea Fizz, each developed to showcase the best of the brand’s Maryland-style rye.

The three carbonated cocktail recipes were created in partnership with CAnE Collective, a Baltimore-based maker of handcrafted mixers. The team makes the ready-to-drink cocktails with organic juices. It is naturally gluten-free.

The Black-Eyed Rye is Sagamore Spirit Rye Whiskey paired with blackberry juice, lime juice, and natural ginger flavor at 18 proof.

Honey Paloma is Sagamore Spirit Rye Whiskey paired with red grapefruit juice, lime juice, agave, and natural honey flavor, also 18 proof.

And Lemon Tea Fizz is Sagamore Spirit Rye Whiskey paired with Meyer lemon juice, green tea, and natural yuzu flavor, at 16 proof.

“Maryland-style rye is the perfect base for cocktails,” said Brian Treacy, Sagamore Spirit president, in a prepared statement. “In the crowded ready-to-drink space, these stand apart because of the time we took to design each cocktail from scratch with the talented mixologists from CAnE Collective.”

Sagamore Spirit canned craft cocktails will initially be available throughout Maryland, Washington DC, and New Jersey then nationwide by next year. Each cocktail will be sold in a four-pack at a suggested retail price of $15.99.
