Russell’s Reserve Single Barrel Rye Aims To Spice Things Up

The upcoming Russell's Reserve Single Barrel Rye is yet another new planned release from Wild Turkey as it expands its line up.

Russell's Reserve Single Barrel RyeRemember yesterday how we brought you word of the upcoming, limited edition Wild Turkey Master’s Keep 17 year old bourbon? Turns out this isn’t the only forthcoming release Wild Turkey has planned to further spice up its whiskey line up. From its Russell’s Reserve brand, welcome Russell’s Reserve Single Barrel Rye.

Russell’s Reserve Single Barrel Rye, according to information provided to us by Wild Turkey, will launch this September with a price point of around $60 for a 750 ml bottle. It is set to become a permeant part of the Russell’s Reserve portfolio, and will exist alongside Russell’s Reserve 10 Year Old Bourbon, Russell’s Reserve 6 Year Old Rye and Russell’s Reserve Single Barrel Bourbon.

For this single barrel, non-chill filtered rye Jimmy and Eddie Russell are said to “have selected only the best barrels from the prime ‘center cut’ locations (levels 3 – 5) of the Wild Turkey rick houses for this newest creation.” The age is said to be six years.

Taste wise, expect this 104 proof offering to typically have a balance of spicy pepper, vanilla and tobacco. Things will vary though in this regard from one barrel to another.
