On Being A Whiskey Blogger: Joining The George Dickel Whisky "Dickel Dozen" Program

Here at The Whiskey Wash I recently had the pleasure of being approached by some folks from George Dickel Tennessee Whisky about a new blogger program they were doing called Dickel Dozen. I adimttedly didn’t know a ton about the brand at that point, and was getting ready for a big European trip when a package from them showed up at my door. More recently I finally got around to opening said package and consulting the accompanying PR materials and all I can say at this point is, well, wow.

What arrived was a well crafted wooden box with a latch holding it closed (you can see more about its creation in the second video below). When I opened the box a nine-year old bottle of George Dickel Sour Mash Whisky that was bottled at 103 proof was staring back at me. This hand selected offering is in a full 750 ml bottle size, which is pretty significant given whiskey bloggers often get tiny vials with a small amount of whiskey in them for sample reviews.

Also accompanying the whiskey online is a video customized for The Whiskey Wash talking about the process Dickel whiskey goes through to get into bottle, which you can see above. Suffice to say I’m pretty blown away by the program and will aim to get a review of this whiskey up later this week which, by the way, will be the first official whiskey review for this blog!
