Oh Hell, Hellboy Is Getting His Own Cinnamon Flavored Whiskey

Hellboy, be it movie or comic, is relatively popular character created by Dark Horse Comics. As the fictional story goes American soldiers discovered him on December 23, 1944 after a Nazi experiment brought him to our world. Hellboy is the primary agent for the Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense (B.P.R.D.) a fictional organization charged with protecting America from the occult, paranormal & supernatural. It follows then that a franchise like this would have branded merchandise, but you have to wonder if things have gone overboard a bit with the new Hellboy Hell Water Cinnamon Whiskey.

Hellboy Hell Water

That’s right – cinnamon flavored whiskey tied to the Hellboy character. Oh hell, why? Do we really need more cheap flavored booze out there, regardless of what brand it might be tied to? Whatever the case, Dark Horse teamed up with Prestige Imports on this mess, and they in turn looked to XXX Distillery (I’ve never heard of them either) out of Tennessee to make it.

What you have here exactly is something crafted in the style of “Southern Corn Whiskey.” Put another way, well, here are the bullet points on it from Prestige – I’ll let you draw your own conclusions on it:

  • Made In the Smokey Mountains
  • High Quality 66.6 Proof (Super Smooth)
  • Micro-Distilled / Hand Crafted / Small Batches
  • Proprietary Mashbill – Corn, Wheat and Barley
  • Natural Cinnamon Flavoring (Hellishly Delicious)
  • English Mountain Spring Water (Smokey Mountains)
  • The Finest 750 ml Glassware, Tamper Proof Caps and Labels.

“We selected these craft distillers based on product quality, production capability and great tasting cinnamon whiskey,” said Tom Cleaver, Prestige Imports LLC founder, in a prepared statement, “after an exhausted search of distilleries from around the United States.”

Should you want to acquire a bottle of the 33.3% ABV Hellboy Hell Water Cinnamon Whiskey, expect to drop around $20 a bottle when it debuts this month.

Whisky Review: The Bruichladdich Thirty

We review The Bruichladdich Thirty, a Scotch single malt aged for three decades in ex-bourbon casks laid down around the time the distillery shuttered for seven years starting in 1994.
