New Chattanooga Whiskey Releases Include Silver Oak Cabernet Cask Finish

Chattanooga Whiskey recently announced their newest release in the Barrel Finishing Series, the Silver Oak Cabernet Cask Finished.

A statement from Chattanooga whiskey notes that this marks the third release in their limited edition Finishing Series, which brings about the blending of Tennessee High Malt with a variety of finishing casks.

This Cabernet Cask Finish is made from five single malt mash bills, each containing a range of toasted, roasted and caramel malts. That includes a custom-toasted barley malt developed with Riverbend Malt House.

The whiskey was aged for more than four years, including 18 months in Silver Oak Cabernet Sauvignon Casks.

The distiller’s notes show the whiskey to have flavors of malt, fruit and toasted oak, with hints of mixed berry, toasted oak, thyme and molasses, followed by a long, malty finish.

Silver Oak Cabernet Cask Finished will be available across the country and at the Chattanooga Whiskey Experimental Distillery for a suggested retail price of $59.99 for a 750ml bottle.

The Chattanooga Whiskey Experimental Distillery also just released Batch XXIX: Centenary Cask. This will be an annual release in their Experimental Single Batch Series.

Batch XXIX is a blend of experimental pot-distilled mash bills that were married and finished in a rare, 100-year-old Oloroso Sherry puncheon. The Sherry puncheon will be refilled in the solera style, so each annual 100-gallon batch will be uniquely different from the last, and will contain traces of whiskeys from previous fills.

You can only get Batch XXIX: Centenary Cask at the Chattanooga Whiskey Experimental Distillery for $74.99 for a 750ml bottle. The tasting notes show that in this whiskey, you can expect aged-wine notes of soaked fruit cask, toasted walnut, and bread pudding.

The Chattanooga Whiskey Experimental Distillery hosts more than 40,000 visitors a year and the Riverfront Distillery is the production home to Chattanooga Whiskey’s signature expressions, Chattanooga Whiskey 91, Cask 111 and 99 Rye, as well as their Bottled in Bond Vintage Series and Barrel Finishing Series.
