Journeyman’s Latest Corsets, Whips & Whiskey Finished In Cider Casks

Journeyman Three Oaks Distillery out of Michigan recently collaborated with Virtue Cider for a new small-batch release of its Corsets, Whips & Whiskey that’s been finished in cider casks.

Pale auburn in color with tannic and leather notes on the nose, the new batch was aged 3 years in charred new American white oak barrels and finished in Virtue Cider barrels for 6 months, allowing for hints of freshly pressed apples leading into cinnamon and nutmeg spices on the tongue. Tart caramel apple rounds out the whiskey with a honey finish, according to official tasting notes.

“It hit me like an apple on the head, that the Virtue Cider barrels combined with our award-winning Corsets, Whips & Whiskey would create a brilliant combination of wicked good taste,” Journeyman Production Manager Tom Balich said in a prepared statement.

Founded in 2010, Journeyman Distillery crafts, bottles, sells and serves organic, kosher and gluten-free certified spirits at the historic Featherbone Factory in Three Oaks, Michigan. The distillery uses what’s described as the highest quality grains sourced from Midwestern organic farmers in its award-winning spirits as well as at its Staymaker restaurant, which offers a variety of dishes that are gluten-free, vegetarian or vegan. Since its opening, Journeyman has expanded its distillery and opened a catering facility, Warren Hall, a grainery and Welter’s Folly, along with the restaurant.

Corsets, Whips & Whiskey was recently voted America’s #1 wheat whiskey by Fred Minnick, after winning double platinum at the 2021 SIP Awards. This small-batch release is limited to only 300 bottles and was made available this past weekend at the distillery for $79.99 for 750ml.
