Journeyman’s Election Day Rye Whiskey Is A Spirit You May Need Come Nov. 3

As the United States races towards Election Day 2020 and all the chaos and mayhem surrounding it, Michigan based Journeyman Distillery has aptly crafted a rye whiskey named after it that, if for the name alone, may become your goto to help get through that evening’s results as voting is tallied around the country.

Journeyman Election Day Straight Rye Whiskey, according to those behind it, has been bottled at 80 proof after aging since Election Day 2016 and will price around $80 per 750 ml bottle. It is available through the distillery and will also be found, with limited distribution, in Illinois retailers.

As for why Journeyman has done this expression, a long prepared statement best sums it up. “Named the best way to weather the election season, by those who have been drinking at home for months. This highly anticipated, limited batch spirit, has all the character of a blustery speech – by either candidate, with rye notes of irony and sarcasm. Just a hint of cherry on top.

“Frankly, these crazy times have left us with a bit of a bad taste in our mouths. This has caused us to dedicate this unabashedly, tasty batch of whiskey, to our most ardent followers: the unsung heroes, drinking spirits out of their coffee mugs – the Vice Presidents of this great nation.

“From the Oval office to the D suite, we salute making a career out of being number two. Cheers to those who unquestionably support all the vices of number one, with the kind of grin, that masks the every day hoop jumping and great debates happening behind closed doors.

“We encourage everyone to vote responsibly. And remember your vote counts as much for number two as it does for number one. For ‘United We Whiskey’ and celebrate the right for all to vote with their taste. And toast their candidates victory or fall with the best whiskey of all.”

For those needing something a little stronger, approximately 250 bottles of a cask strength, single barrel variant will be available November 3rd. So the plan therefore becomes if you go this route – cast your ballot, buy a bottle, go home, pop it open, drink along as Election Night 2020 rolls on.
