By Hannah Kanik / April 15, 2021

The new documentary “Chasing Whiskey — The Untold Story of Jack Daniel’s,” which we first brought mention of to you last year, premiered across a range of streaming platforms and channels on April 9. It takes a deep dive into the lesser-known story of Jack Daniel’s whiskey making and how it became one of the most iconic American whiskey brands.

Tim Matheson, Shooter Jennings, Eric Church, John Grisham, Tina Sinatra and others help break down the story of the well-known brand. Jack Daniels’s tale spans across five countries and 16 time zones, starting in Lynchburg, Tennessee and traveling through the outback of Australia to Beverly Hills, California, and the streets of Havana, Cuba.

“Why is whiskey so intertwined with popular culture, and how did Jack Daniel’s become the most iconic whiskey brand in the world?,” said director Greg Olliver in a prepared statement.  “These are some of the questions we were asking as we began our journey on ‘Chasing Whiskey.’ Fortunately, no matter where we went – from Tennessee to Japan to Cuba to the outback of Australia – and even Scotland – we always found someone who had a compelling, personal story to tell about Jack.”

“With unprecedented access that was given to us by Jack Daniel’s, we uncovered surprising stories that began even before Jack started making his own whiskey. We’re proud to present this insightful, whiskey-infused adventure that tells the story of Jack that’s been 150+ years in the making.”

The documentary is available for HD/SD purchase for $9.99 and $4.99 for HD/SD rental. It opened on iTunes Apple TV, Google Play and YouTube with other platforms to follow, such as VUDU, Comcast Xfinity, Dish Network and DirecTV, in the coming weeks.

Jack Daniel’s has been owned by the Brown–Forman Corporation since 1956 and is based in Lynchburg, Tennessee.
