Utah’s High West Distillery just released their annual spring Rendezvous Rye, available nationwide.
The limited release rye is the distillery’s first whiskey and the flagship bottle is High West’s most awarded expression.
The 2022 release is a blend of straight rye whiskeys ranging between four and six years in age and, like last year’s edition, keeps a large proportion of High West’s in-house made rye.
A statement from the distiller noted that the balance of distillates in this rye showcases botanical and spice complexities with sturdy maturation character in the blend.
The spring 2022 Rendezvous Rye is bottled at 46% ABV and carries a suggested retail price of $69.99.
The distiller’s notes for the rye show that on the nose, you’ll find aromas of poached pear, bitter orange, ground ginger, lavender, wet sandalwood, tanned leather on a wooden work bench. It tastes of stewed apples with cinnamon, brown sugar oatmeal with golden raisins, salted caramels, fresh ginger, coriander, star anise, and eucalyptus.
Rendezvous Rye is also the first limited release this year for High West to feature a new label, matching the design updates now seen on High West Bourbon and Double Rye labels. The updated labels are evolutions of the originals that have been modernized.
