Graverobber Unholy Rye Returns As Tamworth Distilling’s Seasonal Spirit

Tamworth Distilling out of New Hampshire last year unveiled a spooky spirit for those looking for something a little more adult like to enjoy this coming Halloween. Now they are back again with Graverobber Unholy Rye, their annual, limited edition release of the season.

Curated with maple syrup from mature oak trees that grow amid Colonial-era graves on Great Hill Farm in New Hampshire, this rye whiskey is laid to rest for a three-year aging process that later results in a 90-proof offering with flavor profiles of charred oak and burnt sugar. It is said to have “aromas of cinnamon, dried orange peel, as well as rye cracker and hints of maple.” The grave-side grown maple syrup addition is also said to “calm the peppery rye” and assents with a warm, long finish.

“Graverobber is not just a wickedly delicious spirit, but it also tells a haunting story about tapping graveyard maples,” said the CEO and Founder of Tamworth Distilling and Art in the Age, Steven Grasse, in a prepared statement. The process is apparently one “that has long been feared for risk of disturbing the dead and taboo in New England. That’s just some of what makes Graverobber the perfect drink for this spirited season.”

Graverobber Unholy Rye is available now, pricing around $65 per 750 ml bottle. For those wanting to dress it up a little bit for Halloween, the distillery is also offering a special “Halloween Gram” version for $95 that comes with the bottle and two rocks glasses housed inside a hand-crafted wooden coffin.
