Craft Brewers Whiskey Project A Very Ambitious Undertaking

Craft Brewers Whiskey ProjectBerkshire Mountain Distillers out of Massachusetts made a name for itself last year when it teamed with a number of craft breweries across the country to release whiskies aged in former beer barrels. The distillery is now getting into a related project, unveiling plans for a series of expressions distilled from craft beers themselves.

What’s been dubbed the Craft Brewers Whiskey Project will see Berkshire producing whiskies from beers provided by 15 different breweries. The resulting expressions will be aged at the distillery “for an undetermined amount of time” before being released in multiple states.

Pricing for these releases is undetermined as of yet, although a recent Boston Globe article indicates one of the bottlings will cost around $120. Breweries that have signed on so far include:

  • Brewery Ommegang Cooperstown, NY – Three Philosophers
  • Captain Lawrence Elmsford, NY – Liquid Gold
