Copperworks Releases Its Largest American Single Malt Bottling To Date

Copperworks Distilling co-owners Jason Parker and Jeff Kanof bring their passion for American single malt whiskey every day to the country’s spirits industry.

And the duo is making moves to meet the growing demand for it.

“Just as the American single malt whiskey category gains more recognition on the global stage, demand for Copperworks spirits continues to rise at home … and now, abroad,” Parker said. “Copperworks American Single Malt Whiskey Release 047 is our largest blend to date, and a portion of it is destined for select export markets, including Taiwan.”

He noted that this latest release is among other special selections of Copperworks American Single Malt Whiskey that have made their way to select international markets, such as Italy, Canada, the UK, and Japan.

A statement from Copperworks notes that Release 047 was made from a combination of 13 casks; four casks crafted from Copperworks’ Five Malt recipe and nine casks crafted from Baronesse Pale malt.

All the casks were new American oak, char #2 from Canton Cooperage, with a mix of 24-month and 36-month seasoned staves.

The Five Malt casks matured for three years and nine months, while the Baronesse casks matured for three years.

Copperworks American Single Malt Whiskey Release 047 clocks in at 50% ABV (100 proof), and has a suggested retail price of $69.99. It’s now available at Copperworks’ Seattle Distillery and Tasting Room as well as their online store.

Tasting Notes from Jason Parker and Jeff Kanof note that Release 047 is an amber colored whiskey featuring aromas of orange icing on a cinnamon roll and honeysuckle, balanced by oak. Sweet tea mingles with nectarine, melon rind, and sweet cinnamon across the palate.

Release 047 has a finish of oak, unripe mango, crispy phyllo dough, a touch of white pepper, and a hint of mint.

Kanof joked that “while we certainly have a long way to go towards world domination, we are extremely proud to say that Copperworks is now internationally distributed.”

He explained that a recent expansion of their Talking Cedar partnership will allow Copperworks to grow to five times their previous capacity and provide more product for wider distribution.

The potential impacts of cask investment fraud on the scotch whisky industry was discussed in the Scottish Parliament in April 2024, hopefully paving the way for more regulation within the industry.
